All graduate employers should keep their minimum application requirement of a 2.1 degree. This is because students have worked hard to reach that grade. If the minimum requirement is scrapped that students won't try so hard and become lazy knowing that getting a graduate job won't be as competitive. This is a waste of taxpayer's money and a decision which would punish those who work hard to achieve success.

I disagree with Himesh. The achievement of a 2.1 is arbitrary in terms of grading as some institutions award marks much more liberally than others. Having a 2.1 degree shouldnt be a crude currency

I disagree with Sarah F's comment. Surely university should be about the learning first and foremost, and not simply what grade you happen to get at the end? While there is often a link between those two areas anyway, it can easily be spoiled by highly knowledgeable students who struggle with standard academic examination methods that don't reflect the majority of real-life work. Alternatively, it can also be spoiled by students who 'prepare for the test' and promptly forget what they were taught once final exams pass by. As a student myself, I for one welcome these initiatives.
